Home Futura

Home Futura is a speculative single-family home designed for a coastal lot. The brief asked for a house that could be lived in year-round, but that read as a piece of land-art from a distance. Our response was to break the volume into stacked, slightly offset boxes - each clad in a different material register - and to thread an outdoor staircase through the centre so the house can be read as a continuous walk from beach to roof. The project was awarded the People's Choice prize for its restraint and atmosphere.
